What is a pre-order with exclusive early tracks?

How early access works, how many tracks can come early, when they unlock, and what locks once pre-orders open.

Written by Andrea Torres

The fan buys the album before release day and selected tracks unlock immediately, only on the artist's storefront. It's the same instant grat model as iTunes, brought into direct-to-fan: buying the album starts the music, and the reward for buying is early access.

What the fan experiences

The fan pays, and the early tracks are playable straight away, with no waiting and no code to redeem. The rest of the album unlocks automatically on release day, with nothing for them to do. If a fan buys after street date has already passed, they get everything instantly.

How many tracks can come early

On chart-eligible campaigns, up to four tracks can come early, or no more than half the tracklist on albums of eight songs or fewer. That cap is combined across storefront exclusives and any tracks already wide on streaming, so a single already released before the campaign counts against it.

All at once or staggered

Either approach is supported: tracks can unlock simultaneously when the pre-order opens, or staggered across the window to keep the rollout moving. Track titles can stay hidden until their unlock date if the campaign calls for it.

What locks when pre-orders open

On chart campaigns the tracklist and track count lock, and the album can't expand after purchase or release. The release date and tracklist display at pre-order and hold for its duration. Minimum-price changes are possible but chart floors always apply, and any change routes through your EVEN team so chart bodies are notified.

If you'd rather not run a pre-order

A standard release works too, and so does a surprise drop: the site gets built and held until the moment you announce.
