Is publishing covered, or do we need additional licenses?

Publishing is covered inside EVEN's percentage. The licenses EVEN holds, and what that means for your side.

Written by Andrea Torres

Publishing is covered. Your team does not need to clear additional licenses to run a Studio campaign.

What EVEN holds

EVEN is licensed by the US performing rights organizations (ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, and GMR) and by the MLC, with performance licensing in the US, Canada, and the UK.

What that means for your side

Your side carries no publishing exposure on sales made through the Studio. Mechanical and performance obligations on those transactions sit with EVEN rather than being pushed back to the label or the artist to administer.

It is inside the percentage

Publishing is one of the costs covered by EVEN's percentage, along with payment processing, currency conversion, global sales tax, and fan support. It is not a separate line and it is not billed at the end of a campaign.

What is still yours

Your existing publishing relationships and royalty accounting do not change. EVEN covering the licensing on Studio sales is not the same as EVEN administering your publishing, and revenue reaching the label is still accounted for under your own agreements.

If your team needs documentation

Documentation is available on request from your EVEN team during setup. Publishing licensing sits alongside the audit-firm accounting memo as the paperwork finance and business affairs teams usually want to see before a campaign rather than after it.
